Welcome to Spring! Dear Parents, Welcome to spring, to our new website and to the first issue of our online parent newsletter! We hope you all are doing great. We're thrilled to introduce this new format to keep you informed and engaged, and would love to hear your feedback. Please feel free to speak to me or any of the staff directly to share your thoughts. You can also email us at [email protected]. We can't wait to hear what you think. We're also very excited to invite you to join us in celebrating" Children" as April is the month in which the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) honors early childhood teachers, students and their families. We welcome parents, grandparents and caregivers to join in our celebrations of The Week of the Young Child, April 18 - 22. You are invited to visit our classes and take part in our daily class routines. Please complete the quick form below if you are able to join in the fun, and then see your child's classroom teachers to confirm details on how you can help make it a week to remember! Little People's theme for this month will be Community Helpers. Each class will develop their own units focused on learning about and celebrating select professions that provide special help to our communities. -Tiwana Burns, Center Director The Explorers As the new season arrives, The Explorers are excited to move on to the next chapter of our learning journey! I am so overjoyed by the outstanding turnout and cooperation shown at our parent conferences last month. Explorer parents, you rock! Let's keep the momentum going. We love hearing from you and having you visit us. You are always welcome to join us in class and to check-in on your child's progress. In keeping with this month's theme, we will include units on doctors, firefighters and gardeners, learning how each of these professions help our community. We will also have a special focus unit celebrating Earth Day and the importance of recycling. We will also continue our study of the alphabet, days of the week and number recognition. Please be sure to take a look at our exploration photos, on display in our classroom! -Ms. K. Little Stars March was such an exciting, eventful and busy month for us. We had a wonderful time with Dr. Seuess, learned more about shapes, celebrated St. Patrick's Day, and last but not least, had a great time at our grand Easter parade! The children were engaged in fun learning activities all month long. Some of the highlights were building our "shape school bus" and "Mr. Sun". We studied the origins and traditions of St. Patrick's Day and built our Leprechaun Land. We also created special carrots for our Easter bunnies. The children learned new sight words related to each topic and practiced tracing and writing focus letters. April will find us busy learning all about community helpers. We've recently wrapped our unit on firefighters. Don't you love our fire hat and fire truck art on display in the center entry hall! Check in with us to find out what helpers we'll be focusing on next. Is there a special community helper you think the little stars should learn about? Make a suggestion! We'd love to have parents join in our learning fun. We'll continue learning more new sight words, practicing our alphabet skills and engaging in colorful crafts. You're invited to stop in for our brand new circle time... Circle time is now completely music-based; we continue practicing phonics, our days of the week song and number rock, and we've added many new songs. The children are having a great time and learning and growing in their mastery every day! We have also incorporated movement and physical exercise into all of our daily activities, and the children are loving it! We've also begun practicing our performance for Graduation Day in June. We will be singing God Bless America. The children have learned the song in class, but your help practicing at home will keep them encouraged and motivated. Lastly, we're looking forward to beginning our food experiences again! Your ideas, suggestions and donations are greatly appreciated. Please see me directly to contribute your thoughts on how to continue our success with introducing a love of exploring new foods. A big thanks to all the parents who participated and shared valuable information and insight about your little ones at our March parent conferences. Please email me directly for any queries, concerns or follow-up. - Mrs. A The Achievers We're ready to spring into a new season of learning and exploring! We enjoyed our segment on Easter and are ready to get going learning all about our community helpers. The Achievers will focus on physicians and construction workers. In our daily lessons, we're focusing on numbers, learning to count to 50 and beyond, continuing to strengthen our vocabularies and working on our cognitive development through reading, reading comprehension and story dictation. I'm looking forward to more exciting times as we continue to learn and grow, and looking forward too to your continued support and participation. -Ms. Michelle What's Coming Up
