Is the center licensed and insured?
Yes. We are licensed by both the city and state and also fully insured.
Are your staff members certified in CPR?
Yes. All staff are certified in both CPR and first-aid.
When is your enrollment period?
We have open enrollment year round.
What are your enrollment requirements?
Children must be ages 2 yr - 6yr, have a valid birth certificate and current immunization record. We also conduct both a parent and child interview.
What are you tuition rates?
We have different rates for Preschool and Infant Toddlers. Please visit our Enrollment and Tuition page, under the About Us tab, for a complete breakdown of all full-time and part time options.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We currently accept personal checks, cash, money order and cashiers checks and Chase Quick Pay. Please contact the center director with any questions.
Do you offer a tuition discount for siblings?
Yes. Full-time tuition is discounted $100 for a second student. Please contact the center director for discount amounts for siblings on a part-time tuition plan.
How early can children be dropped off?
7 a.m.
What time must children be picked up?
6 p.m.
What is your policy on late pick-up?
Fees apply after 6 p.m. $5 for first six min, $1 per minute after 6:06 p.m.
What meals are provided?
We provide a healthy balanced lunch as well as a.m. and p.m. snacks.
Lunch meals are catered by I Touched a Dream catering. We are a nut, fish and pork and beef free facility. We also do not serve granola bars.
Can my child bring his/her own food?
Not unless there is a dietary need specified by your child's physician. Documentation is required per state law.
What are your policies on attendance when children are ill?
Children experiencing fever, vomiting, diarrhea and any communicable infection or virus, such as pinkeye, should not attend school. We are happy to consult with parents regarding attendance on a case by case basis if children are experiencing a common cold with none of the symptoms listed above.
What is your policy on administering medication?
We will only administer prescription medication with documentation from a child's physician and a signed parental consent form, including use of epipens and nebulizers on an as needed basis. We do not administer over the counter medication per state law.
Does my child have to be potty trained before enrolling?
No. We will assist children who are still learning.
Do you offer care options for children with special needs?
Yes. We will work with a child's parents, physicians and/or therapists on a case by case basis.
You are located in a unitarian church; does the center have any religious affiliations?
No. Little People Learning Center has no religious affiliations and welcomes students of all beliefs, faiths and backgrounds.
Are you affiliated with the University of Chicago?
No. Little People Learning Center has no connection to the University of Chicago.
You share a building with the Hyde Park School of Dance; are you affiliated with them?
We are not affiliated with the Hyde Park School of Dance.
Do you have affiliations with any elementary schools in the neighborhood?
Little People Learning Center has no official affiliation with any other schools. Many of our students are enrolled in half-day pre-k programs or full-time kindergarten programs at William Ray Elementary, a CPS pre-k - 8th grade school, located one block away at 5631 S. Kimbark. For an additional monthly fee, members of our staff will currently escort children to half-day afternoon classes at Ray. We do not currently provide escorts from Ray to Little People for students enrolled in morning classes at Ray or for those students who wish to return to Little People after afternoon classes end at Ray. We plan to begin options for both as of the 2016-17 school year. We do not offer escort services to or from any schools besides Ray.
